The Full Story! Who is the True Victim?

Remember I said I'd make it Babz Business to find out more about Osama and this war in Iraq? Well I did! I even made a presentation at school on the subject entitled "Who is the True Victim".

I felt that Osama wasn't as evil as portrayed and that there had to be a reason behind the terrorist attacks. I was right! According to Wikipedia, Osama's motives were mostly, if not purely, religious. Al Queda's goal, in fact, is to uplift the wrod of God and to make His religious victorious. He had this whole plan to lure them into war and this would eventually lead to their economic downfall. It worked against the Soviet Union and almost worked against America. There military budget this year is $708B, and they had to cut their education budget to do so. I'll tell you the condensed version!

First of all, these people in the Middle East believe in Jihad, which means struggle. This is seen as a religious duty. America first got involved with Afghanistan when the Soviet War was taking place. They funded the war and provided weapons while Osama and other men trained the volunteer fighters. They eventually drove the Soviet Union out of Afghanistan, but America settled in. The people wanted America out as well because they were on sacred land, and they felt that the American soldiers' presence on the land was disgraceful. That's how the war began to drive them off the land.

Have you ever wondered why 9/11 happened?
The idea came from an attack funded by the Americans in Lebanon. America was involved in the destruction of towers in Lebanon. Osama saw this, and got the idea to destroy the towers in America to "give them a taste of what it feels like".

Presently, America is in Afghanistan killing innocent people, but that's not what the media recognizes. They concentrate on the one event that happened in 2001 while there presence in Afghanistan is doing worse every day. There's a "kill team" in the army that kill for sport and keeps fingers and skulls for souvenirs. The use of uranium and other toxic chemicals is causing horrific increases in the number of birth defects in Fallujah, which a village in Iraq. General Stanley McChrystal admits that innocents have been shot and killed at checkpoints.

These crimes don't only take place in Afghanistan, in Jackson, Florida a mosque (Muslim place of worship) was bombed. One was burned down in Tennessee, and a man urinated in one in Queens, New York. There are many more, but the blog is not long enough. You can check out morallowground.com for more information.

Well, I made it Babz Business, and now it's up to you, what you'll do with it! Take it as knowledge, continue to rejoice over Osama's death, or you could think about life!

Did you know?

In 1963, Emperor Haile Selassie made a speech in front of the League of Nations, which is now known as the United Nations, and Bob Marley made into a song. If Bob Marley did not make it into this song, his words may not be as well known.

War - Bob Marley

What life has taught me
I would like to share with
Those who want to learn

Until the philosophy which hold one race
Superior and another inferior
Is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned
Everywhere is war

That until there are no longer first class
And second class citizens of any nation
Until the color of a man's skin
Is of no more significance than the color of his eyes

That until the basic human rights are equally
Guaranteed to all, without regard to race

That until that day
The dream of lasting peace, world citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion
To be pursued, but never attained
Now everywhere is war

And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes
That hold our brothers in Angola, in Mozambique
South Africa sub-human bondage
Have been toppled, utterly destroyed
Well, everywhere is war

War in the east, war in the west
War up north, war down south
War, war, rumors of war

And until that day, the African continent
Will not know peace, we Africans will fight
We find it necessary and we know we shall win
As we are confident in the victory
Of Good over Evil

$20 Stolen for Dialysis

On April 29, a man, Young, went to Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) because he was dehydrated. Only one of his kidneys works, and he needed dialysis treatment but didn't have the money. He stole a wallet with $20 to pay for it. The treatment costs $16. The man took the $20 and returned the wallet. On May 11, he appeared in court.

These are the stories I never forget. This man also has a hole in heart that is leaking and needs surgery. He said to 7 News that he had no money, and begging didn't work. He also said that not having money and being unable to move around made him consider doing other things to make money. Young was fined $500 and has until June 30th to pay. If he doesn't pay, he'll have to serve 6 months.

A couple years ago, a man broke into the Medical Associates Pharmacy and stole diapers and Pedialyte and had to appear in front of a court.

Maybe I'm soft, but are these reasons to appear in front of a Magistrate? It is still theft. It is still wrong, but $20, diapers and Pedialyte? It breaks my heart! For stealing $20, he's fined $500? OK!

No SUGA!?

Calls have been coming in, reporting that there is no sugar in Belize! Now it's affecting local businesses. According to the Belize Sugar industry (BSI), however, there is not a shortage in sugar on their part. The Marketing Manager explained that the shortage is not a result of underproduction of sugar. They received information that there is an illicit cross border trade taking place, where sugar is being sold to Guatemala and Mexico for more than double the price.

WHATEVER! Belizeans don't have sugar! We all, including Babz, has grown to love Joy's juice. They sell more than a generous amount of fresh fruit juice for only $2, so if you haven't tasted it yet, find yourself one as soon as possible. There are numerous locations around Belize City. The most convenient one for me is on Freetown Road.

Now the sugar shortage is shutting them down. Sugar is being rationed presently, as if there's a war, and this shortage is messing with my new love. Something needs to be done to prevent the illegal movement of sugar. This is another example of how Belize needs to tighten up their judicial system. Before considering corporal punishment, the smaller holes in the system must be filled to ensure the effective use of this sentence!

Death Penalty?

7 News reported that there's a proposed amendment to the constitution that would make the death penalty enforceable. It would also make carrying out the death penalty no longer seem as inhumane or a degrading punishment.

Reinforcing the death penalty has been a controversial topic for the longest while. Reinforcing it will do nothing unless the judicial system is re-evaluated and made more efficient. Protecting witnesses is the first step, but the court has to become more accurate in judging and convicting criminals. Otherwise, the wrong people will be sentenced to the death penalty and the real murderers will still walk free!

Babz stand is not against the implementation of it, but let's start small and work our way up!

Since we can't thank them enough

Mother - Ashanti

I would never let a tear fall from your eyes
Cuz everything you are to me
I could never let you hurt inside
You mean so much and I'm so thankful that you're in my life
And I appreciate your love and all your sacrifice
Without you by my side, I never could survive
I wouldn't be the woman standing here before your eyes
You taught me strength and you gave me guidance
Whenever faith was lost, you were there to find it
And all because a mother's love is unconditional
With all my heart and all my soul I wanna let you know
That I thank you, and I love you
And I would never place anyone above you
Said I thank you, and I love you
And I could never ever place no one above you
You have given me life, and I just want you to know
That you're the reason I'm here today, I will never let go
To everything that we share and nothing can compare
I thank you, I thank you, I thank you is what I'm saying
See I've been blessed to be raised by a woman so strong
Cause even when I did things wrong
You would show me just the way that I should carry on
You kept me safe and you protected me with all you had
And any time I was in need you gave your very last
I remember waking up early Monday morning
With my new dress and my new shoes with the buckles on 'em
And you would kiss my face and say I love you babe
And you would be right there to take all of my fear away
And when he broke my heart, you said it was his loss
And not the think about it, you're better off without him
Remember when they said that I was never gonna make it?
You said it's yours and all you gotta do is go and take it

For Mothers

Oh Momma - Justin Nozuka

Give me that line again
He's not coming home again tonight
Momma wipe those tears from your cheeks
It don't make no difference now
Remind me one last time
That you won't never ever ever go
The whales can't swim without the tide
And birds won't fly without the stars in the sky

Oh and I can't feel without your touch
I can't dream without your smile
I can't live without your love
Oh momma, no I cannot fall without your hand
And I can't cry without your arms
I can't live without your love
Oh momma

Give me that song again
Hold me closer than you ever did before
When I've given all, I'll give you more
We'll keep on floating to the shore
And you can take a storm and turn it all around
And then the sun shine through
Ah, the story of your life
We have all been designed
But you're as real on the outside

See when it all comes back around
And he still can't figure out
How he let you get away
You just keep your head up high
And know it's better off that way
Just know it's better off that way

Witness Protection Program for Belize?

Belize is getting smarter everyday! According to 7 News, a constitutional change has taken place where witnesses do not have to face the person they are accusing in court. They can provide a testimony through sworn witness statements.

Hopefully, this will encourage more witnesses to step forward. If this doesn't help the judicial system, then nothing will. I will personally give up all hope for Belize. This is what we need to put more criminals where they belong. In most cases, there are witnesses, but the fear of publicly going against a murder prevents people from testifying in court. Now there's nothing to fear! As long as this is done in an efficient and effective way, witnesses should have nothing to worry about!

Belizean Pride. What does that mean?

From what I see around me, not many people have pride in their country. If I loved Belize, would I throw my trash through my window? Would I kill my country's people? Would I rob them, cheat them or try to deceive them? Seriously, how many of us truly have pride in our country? Ask yourself these questions along with others! Then tell me if you love your country! Would I try to cheat the government by not paying taxes? The taxes that pay for roads, bridges, parks and schools? Am I working to develop my country? Do I keep my area clean to make a beautiful Belize? If you don't think this means having pride in your country, think again. If you think marching once a year makes you a proud Belizean, PLEASE, think again. It's now Babz's Business to tell you, whether or not you have country pride!

Good Idea Belize!

For the past seven weeks, parents from Port Loyola have been participating in a parenting skills workshop, and this afternoon they had a graduation for them.

This is a step in the right direction to break the cycle of unruly children, crime and maybe even poverty in the long run. According to research done in Belize, the cause of high levels of crime and gang involvement is broken homes. I've always believed that education can be the cure for any problem, and if this program continues, we'll see if my theory is correct.

This is a brilliant idea to better Belize. I just hope it continues and the number of participants grows as time goes by.

A Reason to March

Today 7 News Belize reported that another teen killed herself in Benque.

I believe that the teenage years are very critical years in life. It is the time when people try to find out where they fit in and who they are compared to who they are "supposed" to be. Most importantly, it is the time that we need to know how much we are loved and supported by friends and family the most. If not, we can easily fall into the wrong crowds and be influenced by the wrong people.

Please, if you have a teenage friend or family member, tell them how much they mean to you. You'll never know what's going in their minds, and you'll never know how much a few kind words may mean to them!

Hot Gossip in Belize

ALLEGEDLY, a forward created by a drug dealer is going around revealing the truth about Belizean police officers. The forward is saying that the police officers are the ones that supply the drug dealers with the various substances to sell. The police officers are able to get the drugs for cheap, sell them to the drug dealers a good rate, allowing them to make a greater profit!

I recall carnival a couple years back when the grenade was thrown, and people there were telling me about the police officers they saw hiding behind cars instead of helping others move away mannerly. Thank goodness they are using their post to help somebody in Belize! They are helping the drug dealers. I cannot say that I am the least bit surprised, but it doesn't take away from the fact that it is wrong, and something must be done... come on judicial system. Here's where you come in. Babz posts it! You investigate!

Artistic Piece

Tell Him - Lauryn Hill

Tell Him
Let me be patient; let me be kind
Make me unselfish, without being blind
Though I may suffer, I'll envy it not
And endure what comes
Caz he's all that I got, and tell him
Tell him I need him
Tell him I love him
And it'll be alright

Now I may have faith to make mountains fall
But if I lack love, then I am nothing at all
I can give away everything I possess
But I'm without love then I have no happiness
I know I'm imperfect and not without sin
But now that I'm older, all childish things end
And tell him
Tell him I need him
Tell him I love him
It'll be alright

I'll never be jealous and I won't be too proud
'Cuz love is not boastful and love is not loud
Tell him I need him
Tell him I love him
Everything is gonna be alright

Now I may have wisdom and knowledge on earth
But if I speak wrong then what is it worth?
What we now know is nothing compared
To the love that was shown when our lives were spared
And tell him!
Tell him I need him
Tell him I love him
And it'll be alright!

Pleasantly Surprised!

Another Babz Original Story!

Today, I had a major Economics test at the end of the day, so I went up to the library to study. I was partially reluctant because of my past experience, but I went anyway! The librarian was much more professional today! She removed those that made noise only after warning them. I was shocked! I must admit that I wondered if she read my blog.

The same way I point out ridiculous and childish behaviors, I must commend those when they deserve it. So, Good Job SJC librarian! I am, as the title says, pleasantly surprised! I'm very proud of what I saw today. You get the BABZ SEAL OF APPROVAL! Keep it up!

Quality Service!

Here's a Babz Business original story:

I have a friend that was desperate to collect 500 empty plastic bottles to get one hundred points for her Ecology class. She collected all year long, but unfortunately she only had approximately 250. She heard that she could buy bottles from Chon Saan, so I gladly drove her over there to see if it was possible. Unfortunately, she didn't walk with enough money so she told the woman in charge that she'd come back in two days.

The two days passed, and I went with her to collect them. An employee of Chon Saan put 500 bottles in my trunk, and we then went inside to pay. They told her it was $75 dollars. She thought it was 5cents a bottle not 15cents so she asked very politely if it was possible for her to only get 100 bottles. A woman, who looked like the boss of Chon Saan, began yelling at my friend. She was pointing her finger at her face and was being totally disrespectful, saying "Don't tell me that now you want only 100!". I don't remember the rest, unfortunately. Personally, I would have given them back their bottles and found another way to get bottles.

I don't care who you are! If I am paying you for a good or a service, you will not yell at me, pointing in my face. Many Belizeans yell and are rude to these Asians who own these establishments, but my friend and I are not one of them. For that reason, providers should return that respect. If I yell at you; yell at me back. If I am polite to you, I expect the same.

So Babz is here to tell you, that if anyone at any store, especially at Chon Saan, yells at you or is disrespectful in any way, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY! Go elsewhere, where you are appreciated!

True love is your soul's recognition of its Significant other

We all dream of finding "the one." The one we can spend our time with, the one we can laugh with, play with, and dream with. The one you just can't seem to get out of your head, no matter how hard you try. The one you can fight with, and the one you can still make it through the hard times with.

Some of you may have already found your soulmates. Some of you may not have. Either way, we all know that the word "love" carries so much meaning. Love has many different definitions according to the many different perspectives human beings have on the subject. To some, love is just a word, meaningless and intangible. To others, its an intense emotion, sometimes causing complete happiness, and other times, excruciating heartbreak. And to a select few, love is what makes the world go 'round.

Some of you may be hopeless romantics, dreaming of being swept off your feet by the perfect partner. Some of you may scoff at the idea of romanticism and being in love. And some of you may just be indifferent to the whole subject.

So my question is what category do you fall into? Are you currently in love? Are you married, single, divorced, etc.? Have you been swept off your feet? Do you dream of being swept off your feet? Are you a romantic? Are you not? What is your definition of love? And most importantly, what is your opinion of "true love"?

Educate -----> Emancipate

"To educate is to emancipate" -Patrick Manning (Former PM of Trinidad and Tobago)

One of the reasons that Belize is so under developed with human resources is because of a selfish decision by the Father of the Nation, George Price. When the University of West Indies were seeking a third location for a campus, they originally wanted to put one in Belize instead of Jamaica. They wanted to put it in Belmopan. They wanted the campus on high land. George Price and the People's United Party, however, turned them away!

Why would they reject such a promising opportunity to vastly educate Belizeans and eventually develop the country? Because ignorant people are easy to control. You cannot easily control educated people because they know about the world, various subjects and how things work. Educated people can challenge leaders when they do wrong. Educated people can realize when they are being cheated and are not easily fooled. This is why UWI was rejected, because the "Father of the Nation" wanted to control and manipulate the country. I think George Price's title should change!

Belizean Entertainment

I love this website because it is hilarious! It has it's jokes like the following link, but it also has a serious side. Enough serious talk. Watch these twin babies talk! I'm sure you'll enjoy! =)

Belizean Talk

It's PSE, CXC and CAPE season in Belize! Let's pray that the results for English PSE are better than last year's. It is pathetic to see how many children cannot read in Standard 3. It is even borderline scary! I have been reading since Kinder, and in Infant I at Belize Elementary School, my teacher, Ms Lovell, dedicated every morning to reading lessons before the school bell rang at 8:00. At the time I hated it, but now, I'm thankful! I'm now in Junior College, and people still can't read English properly! Schools need to re-prioritize and only hire qualified teachers!

Government, please reinstate a Teachers' College! We need good teachers molding the minds of the children who will take over this country one day, and frankly, they need to be able to write a proper sentence. It is evident in the schools and local media that Grammar is not taken seriously.

Here's an assignment! Listen to the radio or local TV channels and point out all of the grammatical mistakes made. It will amaze you!

Now for some entertainment!

Walk for Peace?

A walk for peace is planned for this Sunday at 2 starting at North Front Street in a relentless attempt to reduce crime in the country. Churches and schools are invited to part-take.

I'm sure after seeing a few Belizeans with signs walking, all the criminals will stop shooting down one another!

Let's be logical, especially since women are always being accused of being illogical. What will a walk do? Answer this to yourself!

Yes, I'm waiting!

NOTHING REALLY! As for the crime levels, nothing! The number of walks against crime has been increasing and so has the crime level. Not to sound cynical, but this is a waste of time and energy because a walk alone will do nothing! Praying alone without action will do nothing! Because God helps those who helps themselves, and so far we as a culture do not help ourselves. We are lazy and expect things to be handed to us because... "da soh we feel".

Belize, focus on ligit ways to reduce crime, like reporting criminals. Calling Crime Stoppers if you see a crime being commited. Then, if the criminals get off, FORM A MARCH AGAINST THAT! If you know about a person who is clearly guilty but is still walking around free, MARCH ABOUT THAT!

I'm pretty sure that majority of the crimes committed have witnesses, but we sit down and shut up but want to walk for peace. Be proactive and logical in your attempts to reduce crime. Don't just walk! Talk! Yell! Fight in the best possible way to correct the wrongs we see everyday.

Respect at School

Students have been trained to listen to their parents, teachers and elders on a whole. Any superior should have the respect entitled to them, but I recall the phrase "respect is mutual". I consider myself, for the most part, respectful. No one, teacher, student or visitor, on school campus passes me without me bidding them the time of the day. I rarely ever go against authority. The only time I do is when I feel that the person has crossed the line of respect.

Being a student at Saint John's College School of Liberal Arts, I have noticed a trend with many "superiors". They are rude, insulting and unnecessary! Registration at this institution is totally chaotic! Drop/Add is an insane time as well, but this is expected. Today, however, was totally unnecessary!

The library was packed and ridiculously noisy. I went up there around 8:30 and met the library that way. I tried to work quietly by myself in preparation for a presentation for my Business Law class, and when 9:00 drew near, I left and went to class. I returned around 11:00 to meet the library in a less noisy, but the noise level was still inappropriate. A librarian, deemed rude by many, came out of an office and stood among the students in the study section of the library. She starred and starred, until finally going to the light switch and turning it off. She then turned off the fans. This annoyed me because I was trying to study. Instead of removing those who were making noise because it was clear who those were, the light was turned off making it difficult to continue working. I packed my things and left because instead of doing the more logical thing which would be to remove the problem, she created a new one.

I understand that the students were wrong for being loud, but the librarian's job is to manage the noise level. Turning off some lights and fans will not and did not reduce the noise level. Instead, it made a louder uproar.

Babz's advice: be logical and have some respect. Act your age and do not stoop down to petty, immature, inefficient acts that do not solve the problem faced! I have made it Babz Business because today I was unfairly inconvenienced. I refuse to take any unnecessary foolishness from any pig-headed person. I kept my composure by keeping my big mouth shut and simply leaving. Next time, however, I hope for my sake, I can do the same!

Do you know the full story?

Today Osama Bin Laden is dead. I can't help but not be happy and celebrate the death of this man. Maybe something is wrong with me, but I don't believe in celebrating the death of anyone. I can't help but feel like I don't know the full story. How can we believe everything in the media? Nothing is 100% true, and this can be seen with celebrity gossip. Media is not 100% accurate.

Did you know that America teamed up with Osama Bin Laden and other Israelites to drive the Soviet Union out of Afghanistan years ago? Why would America team up with a terrorist? IT'S ALL ABOUT OIL AND POWER! It was when the Israelites wanted the Americans to leave their country, as well, that he was given the name "terrorist".

I believe in being objective and for that reason I am tired of America playing the victim! "Poor them.... 9/11... blah blah... cry... tears!" I do not deny that it was a devastating day, because it was! I remember crying in front of the television after school that day in my primary school uniform. It was horrible worrying about my loved ones and seeing the bodies and the rubbish on the ground where the twin towers once stood, but what has Afghanistan gone through? How many innocents over there have died? Do you know how many innocents are killed by American soldiers daily? The President of the United States mentioned that the husbands, wives, children, etc. today got justice for 9/11 because of this death. Maybe (and I mean MAYBE) these people who were labeled as terrorists were trying to get justice for their loved ones who were killed by American soldiers. I am not defending terrorists, but do you know the full story? Why would a third world country randomly decide to declare war on the all mighty USofA? It is now Babz Business to find the true story and then determine whether or not I should be happy about this death, but for now, I have mixed feelings.
